Study considers future use of the National Guard and Reserve

The Department of Defense has begun yet another study to consider new ways to use the National Guard and Reserve in the future.

The study is the follow-up to a Defense Secretary William S. Cohen September 1997 memorandum that called on DoD civilian and military leadership to eliminate all residual barriers to Total Force integration.

Titled "Reserve Component Employment 2005," the study will include participants from the active duty, the National Guard and Reserve, representatives from the Office of the Secretary of Defense, the Joint Chiefs of Staff and the unified commands. It should be ...
