Newport says defense spending key to profit bid
|
Irvine's Newport Corp. says increased sales to defense contractors could help push it back to profitability in the fourth quarter.
"We'll see growth in defense," said Chief Executive Robert Deuster at last week's Roth Capital Partners LLC's investment conference in Dana Point. "This is a return-to-profitability year for Newport."
Newport makes gear that automates production of fiber optic networking devices and chips. It also makes measurement and inspection products for the automotive, computer and medical technology markets.
