This relational study examined the relationship between sense of community as perceived by freshman African American students at predominantly white public institutions and the intent of these students to re-enroll. Utilizing the College and University Community Inventory (CUCI), this study examined freshman students' perceptions of community at four predominantly White public universities, the relation between these perceptions and students' intent to re-enroll at the same institution the following semester, and the perception of community by gender.
