Dr. Peter Muran still makes house calls.

Muran is the president and founder of House Call Physicians, a group that provides in-house medical treatment for travelers, tourists and homebound patients. By the end of the month, the company plans to expand its coverage to the national level, bringing the number of doctors it employs from approximately 35 to 50.

Today, the Costa Mesa headquarters has 12 employees and, with at least three doctors per metropolitan area, there are 35-40 physicians serving areas from Los Angeles to San Diego, San Francisco and Las Vegas. According to Muran, a summer ...
