Swedish cinema has been twice blessed--with a silent era marked by the genius of Hauritz Stiller and Victor Sjostrom, and a second "golden age" during the postwar decades when Alt Sjoberg and Ingmar Bergman were in their prime. if "New Swedish Cinema" gives no hint of another renaissance, it does feature the work of one young filmmaker of promise and readfirms the skill of a few old hands.
