"I spent [one week in] December 1952 and [four weeks in] January 1953 on Hill 905 (3,000 feet above sea level) near Mundungni, North Korea. It was cold, sometimes 40 degrees below zero at night. We had to park our tanks on logs to keep their tracks from freezing to the ground. At night, we'd take turns running the engine in half-hour shifts to keep them from freezing, so as to be able to fire and move out if the Chinese attacked us."
