Sulfidation of chalcopyrite with elemental sulfur
|
The sulfidation of chalcopyrite concentrate with elemental sulfur was studied in the temperature range of 325 deg C to 500 deg C. The effects of temperature, time, and composition of the reactants on the sulfidation were determined. The X-ray diffraction (XRD) and light microscopic analyses showed that the sulfidation of chalcopyrite forms CuS and FeS^sub 2^ at temperatures below 400 deg CC. However, at temperatures above 400 C, Cu^sub 5^FeS^sub 6^ and FeS^sub 2^ were formed. The sulfidation ...

Effects of [CO.sub.2] on Crystallization Kinetics of Polypropylene.
Polymer Engineering and Science
; Masahiro Ohshima 1. INTRODUCTION The presence of dissolved [CO.sub.2] in a polymer affects its properties in the molten and solid state. Thus, for example, it reduces the melt viscosity and changes the crystallization rate (1-15). The [CO.sub.2]-induced depression of the glass transition

Mechanical properties and structural characteristics of dynamically photocrosslinked PP/EPDM blends*.
Polymer Engineering and Science
; INTRODUCTION Polypropylene (PP) as a thermoplastic is widely used in many fields, such as building materials, furniture, automobiles, the toy industry, and so on. However, its main disadvantage is its poor impact resistance, especially at low temperatures. Therefore, PP is usually modified with

A PRELIMINARY TERRORISM READING LIST FOR SUB-SAHARAN AFRICA
African Research & Documentation
; Terrorism in Sub-Saharan Africa is not a new phenomenon. In apartheid South Africa, the minority government and the African National Congress regularly accused one another of committing terrorist attacks. Some other dramatic incidents included the 31 December 1980 bombing by Palestinian terrorists

A further look at flexibilities and elasticities: reply. (response to article by James Eals, American Journal of Agricultural Economics, vol. 78, pp. 1125-1129, 1996)
American Journal of Agricultural Economics
; In Huang (1994), I estimated an ordinary (quantity dependent) and an inverse (price dependent) demand system by using U.S. quarterly meat data. The model focused on allocating meat expenditures by assuming implicitly that the concerned four kinds of meats are separable from other goods in a

The Role of Phosphoenolpyruvate Carboxylase during C^sub 4^ Photosynthetic Isotope Exchange and Stomatal Conductance1[OA]
Plant Physiology
; Phosphoenolpyruvate carboxylase (PEPC; EC 4.1.1.31) plays a key role during C^sub 4^ photosynthesis and is involved in anaplerotic metabolism, pH regulation, and stomatal opening. Heterozygous (Pp) and homozygous (pp) forms of a PEPC-deficient mutant of the C^sub 4^ dicot Amaranthus edulis were

To Wheeze or Not to Wheeze: Prospective FE^sub NO^-typing in Early Infancy
American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine
; Recurrent wheeze has a high prevalence in early childhood and is related to viral infections in the majority of infants. Most will not develop asthma but become symptom-free well within the first decade. Asthma can often be traced to early childhood, but unfortunately, the diagnosis can be made

Fibroblast Growth Factor-10 Attenuates H^sub 2^O^sub 2^-Induced Alveolar Epithelial Cell DNA Damage: Role of MAPK Activation and DNA Repair
American Journal of Respiratory Cell and Molecular Biology
; Fibroblast growth factor-10 (FGF-10), an alveolar epithelial cell (AEC) mitogen that is critical for lung development, may promote AEC repair. We determined whether FCF-10 attenuates H^sub 2^O^sub 2^-induced, A549 and rat alveolar type II cell DNA damage. We show that FGF-10 prevents H^sub 2^O^sub

Tonoplast Aquaporins Facilitate NH^sub 3^ Transport
Plant Physiology
; The physiological processes underlying the removal of ammonia and ammonium from the cytosol of plant cells are poorly understood. Loqu et al. (pp. 671-680) propose that the accumulation of ammonium in the acidic lumen of the vacuole is best explained by an acid-trap mechanism, in which the NH^sub
