Background: The genotype of hepatitis C virus (HCV) is a predictor of antiviral therapeutic response. We describe an approach for HCV genotype determination by real-time PCR and melting curve analysis.
Methods: After automated nucleic acid extraction, we used reverse transcription-PCR in a block cycler to amplify nucleotides 6-329 of the 5'-untranslated region of HCV. The product was further amplified by single-- tube real-time seminested PCR in a LightCycler(TM) instrument (Roche). T...

HCV genotyping in India - Quo vadis?
Indian Journal of Medical Research
; In India, the prevalence of hepatitis C virus (HCV) antibody (Ab) ranges from 0.12 per cent to 0.68 per cent in the general population1,2. Since nearly 70 per cent of HCV Ab positive individuals are viraemic3 the number of individuals harbouring circulating virus in our country could range from one

Seroprevalence of HIV, HBV, HCV and syphilis in blood donors
Indian Journal of Medical Sciences
; Gupta N et al[1] have presented interesting data on seroprevalence of HIV, HBV, HCV and syphilis in blood donors. Although they mention about correlation between HIV and syphilis, no data has been provided for the same. HCV, HIV, HBV and syphilis have similar route (sexual) of transmission, it is

Root Growth of Green Pea (Pisum sativum L.) Genotypes.
Crop Science
; Pea yield is very sensitive to drought, especially during the flowering period (Stoker, 1977; Martin, 1981). Bertholdsen (1989) found genetic variability For root development in pea, and found that genotypes with a good root development also had better yield stability. Other investigations (Jensen,
