Sophisticated software has enabled auditors to convert isolated breakthroughs in audit performance into everyday events
For the past two issues, Michel Vezina has used this space to document auditors' increasing use of information technology. But despite instances such as the payroll system audit that was reduced from 1,100 to 260 hours through the use of regression analysis, the benefits resulting from auditors' reliance on IT have been limited, at best.
