In memoriam: Airi Miriam Jokiniemi (1937-2002)

Airi Miriam Jokiniemi (1937-2002) passed away on March 16, 2002, after a long battle with cancer. She was a professor of German literature in the Department of Languages, Literatures, and Linguistics at York University (Toronto). Miriam joined the department as a lecturer in 1967 and became Assistant Professor in 1974 after completing her doctoral dissertation on Alfred Dublin. Miriam was cross-appointed to the School of Women's Studies and was a long-time supporter of Women in German. A founding member of the Ontario Goethe Society (1973-74), she served on their Executive Committee from 1989 ...
