Creating cinematic terror makes local actors squirm

55Winnipeg actor John Bluethner had to do more than consider when he took the role of Ramsey Aickman in the locally lensed hit horror film The Haunting in Connecticut.

The fact-based ghost story, which grossed US$65 million this year prior to its DVD release last week, starred Virginia Madsen, but cast Bluethner in the comparatively small part of a dark arts-practising undertaker given to mutilating dead bodies in an effort to create a nexus with the afterlife.
