HICKORY, N.C., July 16 -- The city of Hickory issued the following press release:

Fifty-six communities across the country applied to be the 2009 Best Tennis Town USA and Hickory made the final cut along with Cary, NC, Midland, MI, Baton Rouge, LA, Independence, KS, Tempe, AZ, Grand Junction, CO, Las Vegas, NV, Springfield, MO, and Ojai, CA. The winner will be the community that gets the most votes on www.besttennistown.com. Voting takes place July 16 until July 26 and all voters have to be at least 13 years old and only one vote per email address.
