Although Pradeep Sebastian wrote an appreciative and perceptive review of Mughal-E-Azam ("The Great Mughal") in Fanfare 29:5, I imagine that Joel Flegler, our Bollywood-enamored editor, wanted to bring this CD to readers attention because it includes the wonderful scores of two movies retelling the same haunting tale: the legendary love of Prince Saleem for Anarkali (Pomegranate Flower), the beautiful dancer whose openly expressed desire scandalized the Mughal court.
