Wild Bill Hickok

ON THE AFTERNOON of August 2, 1876 in Deadwood Gulch, Dakota Territory, saddle tramp Jack McCall wanders into the No. 10 Saloon on Main Street. The taciturn gunslinger, his shooting iron well-oiled, saunters to the bar and orders a shot of whiskey. Leaning on the bar, among others, is Calamity Jane, the female bullwhacker known far and wide in the gold camps and frontier towns of the West as a shootin', drinkin', fightin', whoop-it-up character. McCall hoists his drink and surveys the crowd, his eyes finally settling on a table where four men are playing a game of poker.
