An Open Letter To Adrian Benepe, NYC Parks And Recreation Commissioner:
I love the Brooklyn Bridge. This is not hyperbole but a fact of my life. I was born in Brooklyn. As a teen-age youngster, I remember taking the Gates Avenue Trolley Car over the Brooklyn Bridge to Manhattan, to reach a fabulous Horn and Hardart Automat, where we put our nickels in the slot to open the glass door to get the ice cream cake, a chocolate cake rolled around vanilla cream.
