BEHOLD THE ALPHABET! For children, it represents the key to learning and success. For today's collectors, the ABCs, along with their partner in communication: numbers, come together in the form of charming old-fashioned educational toys known as spelling boards.
Also called letter, or alphabet boards, these clever hands-on study assistants allowed "abecedarians," a bygone term for students learning their ABCs, to manipulate small individual letter tiles along moveable tracks to create words.
