Naproxen/sumatriptan knocks migraine on the head
|
Naproxen sodium/sumatriptan is an effective early intervention for the treatment of patients with migraine, according to US-based researchers.
In two identical, single-attack outpatient studies, patients with a ≥ 6 month history of migraine with or without aura were randomised 1:1 to receive naproxen/ sumatriptan 500mg/85mg or placebo, and instructed to treat their next migraine within 1 hour of onset. Study 1 randomised 329 patients to naproxen/sumatriptan and 329 to placebo, while study 2 randomised 335 patients to naproxen/sumatriptan and 312 to placebo.
