This May, our profession and industry lost one of its giants with the passing of revered producer, director and performer Sydney Pollack. Sydney's status as a passionate storyteller, consummate craftsman and champion of young talent are, by now, a matter of record, woven so thoroughly into the fabric of contemporary Hollywood that to repeat them is to risk stating the obvious.
