Wollastonite (CaSiO3) is a calcium silicate of the pyroxenite mineral group. It is hydrophilic, has low water and oil adsorption, is thermally stable and is largely chemically inert and biologically safe. It is alkaline and moderately hard - Moh 4.5. Four additional properties control industrial application - chemical composition, brightness, fiber length and aspect ratio.
