Alberto Alonso

Founder of Ballet Nacional de Cuba

He was one of the founding architects of Cuba's renowned ballet scene and a prolific choreographer who created one of the world's most famous ballets, Carmen Suite. Yet Alberto Alonso, who died December 31, 2007, at his home in Gainesville, Florida, was not a household name in this country.
