ABSTRACT-

This paper describes the first silicified Upper Triassic (Early Norian) hypercalcified sponges known from the Alexander terrane, southeast Alaska. Sponges consist of five taxa from the Cornwallis Limestone of Keku Strait, southeast Alaska: Amblysiphonella Steinmann, Parauvanella Senowbari-Daryan and Di Stefano, Nevadathalamia cylindrica (Seilacher), N. minima n. sp., and Stellispongia (S. cf. subsphaerica Dieci, Antonacci, and Zardini). The hypercalcified sponges of the Alexa...

Neoguadalupia oregonensis new species: Reappearance of a Permian sponge genus in the Upper Triassic Wallowa Terrane, Oregon
Journal of Paleontology ; ABSTRACT-The sponge Neoguadalupia oregonensis new species is described from the Upper Triassic Martin Bridge Formation in the southern Wallowa Mountains, Oregon. It is the first authenticated Triassic occurrence of the genus Neoguadalupia, previously known from the Permian of South China and
FIRST HEXACTINELLID SPONGE REPORTED FROM THE UPPER TRIASSIC NAYBAND FORMATION OF CENTRAL IRAN
Journal of Paleontology ; INTRODUCTION SPONGES, ALONG with scleractinian corals, are among the main reef-building organisms in Triassic reefs. Hypercalcified groups, including the chambered sphinctozoans, and the unchambered inozoans, chaetetids, and spongiomorphids, represent the most abundant Triassic reef-building
Upper Triassic reef fauna from the Quesnel terrane, Central British Columbia, Canada
Journal of Paleontology ; ABSTRACT-Massive Upper Triassic (Norian) reef limestone at Eaglenest Mountain, Takla Group, British Columbia, contains a wide variety of shallow-water fossils in two different carbonate units. A sponge-coral facies contains the sponges Fanthatamia astoma (Seilacher, 1962), Fanthalamia multicanalis
Integrating ichnofossil and body fossil records to estimate locomotor posture and spatiotemporal distribution of early sauropod dinosaurs: a stratocladistic approach
Paleobiology ; Abstract.-Fossil vertebrate distributions are typically based on body fossils, which are often poorly sampled at the margins of their true temporal and spatial ranges. Because vertebrate ichnofossils can be preserved in great abundance and in different environments than vertebrate body fossils,
BASAL SAUROPODOMORPHS (DINOSAURIA: SAURISCHIA) FROM THE LOWER JURASSIC OF INDIA: THEIR ANATOMY AND RELATIONSHIPS
Journal of Paleontology ; ABSTRACT- The Upper Dharmaram Formation (Lower Jurassic, Sinemurian) of India has yielded three sauropodomorph dinosaurs, two new taxa and an indeterminate one. Lamplughsaura dharmaramensis n. gen. and sp., represented by several partial skeletons, is a heavily built quadrupedal form (body length
Nahoniella, a new name for Yukonella Shi and Waterhouse, 1996 (Spiriferida, Brachiopoda)
Journal of Paleontology ; SHI AND Waterhouse (1996, p. 127) proposed a new genus, Yukonella, for a distinctive licharewnid species (Spiriferida, Brachiopoda) based on well-preserved material from the Lower Permian upper Jungle Creek Formation, northern Yukon Territory, Canada. However, the Editor of the Zoological Record,
The Triassic sponge Neoguadalupia oregonensis senowbari-Daryan and Stanley, 1998, is actually the trace of a living bee's nest
Journal of Paleontology ; WE RECENTLY described a new species of Upper Triassic chambered sponge, Neoguadalupia oregonensis Senowbari-Daryan and Stanley, 1998, from the Upper Triassic Martin Bridge Formation of northeastern Oregon. Several individuals on this putative sponge were exposed on a freshly broken slab of black
Middle Triassic cnidarians from the New Pass Range, Central Nevada
Journal of Paleontology ; ABSTRACT-We describe three scleractinian corals and one species of hydrozoan from the New Pass Range, central Nevada, which together constitute the oldest Triassic cnidarian assemblage from North America. They occur in carbonate rocks tentatively correlated with the Augusta Mountain Formation, Star
ELLIOTHERIUM KERSTENI, A NEW TRITHELEDONTID FROM THE LOWER ELLIOT FORMATION (UPPER TRIASSIC) OF SOUTH AFRICA
Journal of Paleontology ; ABSTRACT- We describe a new tritheledontid, Elliotherium kersteni n. gen. and sp., on the basis of a partial skull collected from the lower Elliot Formation (Upper Triassic; Euskelosaurus Range Zone) on the farm Beatrix, Free State Province, South Africa. Although similar to Pachygenelus, the genus
Upper Jurassic Gravitationally Redeposited Sediments in the Transdanubian Range
Geolines ; Upper Jurassic sections in the Transdanubian Range generally expose pelagic, relatively calm sediments. These deposits and the locally occurring smaller crinoidal talus cones were interpreted as indicative of an extensional regime throughout the Jurassic (Galcz 1988). Some controversial sections
