Accurate marrow dosimetry for radionuclide therapy based on imaging methods has been challenging because of a variety of factors. One of the uncertainties in image quantification of lumbar vertebrae is correction for radioactivity in large blood vessels anterior to the vertebrae. We developed a method to correct for background radioactivity contributed from blood in large vessels and tested it in a pilot study. Methods: CT images of 26 patients receiving ^sup 111^In- or ^sup 131^I-labeled con...

Bone Marrow Dosimetry Using Blood-Based Models for Radiolabeled Antibody Therapy: A Multiinstitutional Comparison
The Journal of Nuclear Medicine ; Standardization of marrow dosimetry is of considerable importance when estimating dose-response for a multicentered clinical trial involving radionuclide therapy. However, it is only within the past five years that the intercomparison of marrow dosimetry results among separate clinical trials that

Predicting myelotoxicity in radioimmunotherapy: What does dosimetry contribute?
The Journal of Nuclear Medicine ; Potential radiogenic damage to the hematopoietic bone marrow is the primary dose-limiting toxicity for systemic radionuclide therapy in general and radioimmunotherapy in particular. A variety of approaches have been pursued in an effort to establish a predictive doseresponse relationship for
Blood-Based Red Marrow Dosimetry: Where's the Beef?/REPLY/REPLY
The Journal of Nuclear Medicine ; TO THE EDITOR: We read with great interest the recent article by Wessels et al. (1). The article purports to propose a clinically relevant, standard method for the blood-based estimation of red marrow absorbed dose for radiolabeled antibody therapy as a benchmark for intercomparison purposes. We
Blood and Bone Marrow Dosimetry in Radioiodine Therapy of Thyroid Cancer
The Journal of Nuclear Medicine ; TO THE EDITOR: In a recent article by de Keizer et al.
