In this reply, the author responds to discussions by Owen Renik and Janine de Peyer of his paper "Reclaiming Desire: Love Is Not Enough." Renik and de Peyer alert us to potential pitfalls in analytic treatment, on the one side of straying too far from lived clinical reality and on the other of failure to anticipate alternative versions of relational configurations.
