With the rapid approach of the bicentennial celebration of the Lewis and Clark expedition, Americans are pondering the multiple meanings of this American saga. Through a careful reading of their words, however, disparate voices of other participants-York, Sacagawea, and Side Hill Calf-can be heard. Two important works now assist individuals in accessing all of these stories.
