Abstract:

Pollen records, marine faunal associations and stable isotope compositions of sediments from Rhodes, Greece, have been determined to track environmental changes in the eastern Mediterranean during the Early and Middle Pleistocene. A detailed chronostratigraphic curve, based on magnetostratigraphic data, was obtained by correlating pollen spectra with the Mediterranean oxygen isotopic curve of Ocean Drilling Program Site 975. Five sedimentary sequences that correspond to marin...

Home range size in Middle Pleistocene China and human dispersal patterns in Eastern and Central Asia.
Asian Perspectives: the Journal of Archaeology for Asia and the Pacific ; THE ISSUE OF HOME RANGE SIZE IN THE MIDDLE PLEISTOCENE is a topic that needs to be addressed to study how hominids interacted with their environment at a local level. This is a particularly pertinent task in China where more fine-grained data are now becoming available. The home range is the area

Asia and the Middle Pleistocene in global perspective.
Asian Perspectives: the Journal of Archaeology for Asia and the Pacific ; DIFFERENCES AMONG THE ASIAN, AFRICAN, AND EUROPEAN PREHISTORIC records are well documented by assemblages that illustrate technological variability and diverse subsistence strategies. Asian Perspectives: the Journal of Archaeology for Asia and the Pacific ; FAUNAL STUDIES HAVE BEEN AN IMPORTANT COMPONENT OF PALEOLITHIC research in China, where pioneering work focused on understanding the taxonomic richness and diversity of Quaternary localities across the country (e.g., Pei 1934a, b, 1957; Qi 1989; Young 1939; Zhou 1964).
