ALEXANDRIA, Va., Aug. 25 -- Hisao Osawa of Kashiwa, Japan, Naoshi Aikawa of Fujisawa, Japan, and Akira Adachi of Sagamihara, Japan, have developed a spectroscope equipped with a spectroscopic element.

According to the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office, the invention relates to a "spectroscope capable of suppressing the dimension and the cost with avoiding a problem caused by polarization dependency of the diffraction grating. The spectroscope includes a polarizing beam splitter plate that divides the light from an input fiber into a first and a second optical paths and polarizes each light ...
