Riverdale Mayor defends gun shop, says "people kill" not guns

The mayor of South Suburban Riverdale, where a gun shop has been the target of several anti-gun protests led by two Chicago clerical leaders, said the focus should shift away from the gun shop and emphasize "solving the social ills that lead people to violence."

The three protests held within the last two months outside of Chuck's Gun Shop, 14310 Indiana Ave., were led by Rev. Jesse Jackson, president of RainbowPUSH and Fr. Michael Pfleger of St. Sabina Church. A prayer vigil in front of the gun shop is planned for Friday afternoon.
