Pratt & Whitney Rocketdyne (PWR) and its fellow X-51A team members - US Air Force, Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), NASA and Boeing - nave successfully demonstrated operation and performance or the X-I scramjet engine in the first simulated flight at Mach 5 of the X-51A.
Mike McKeon, PWR manager of hypersonics and advanced programmes said the performance of X-I in a test environment exceeded predictions.
