Benny Goodman's 40th Anniversary Concert

Benny Goodman's 1938 Carnegie Hall Concert, its importance to American popular music, coupled with the events leading up to the 40th Anniversary Concert was admirably presented by jazz writer John Mc Donough in the December 2006 issue of the IAJRC Journal.
The commemorative 40th Anniversary concert took place on January 17, 1978, a Tuesday. I was one of the lucky ones to obtain a seat for the special sold-out concert paying about $50 for 2 tickets at the Carnegie Hall Box Office. The top price for tickets to Carnegie Hall concerts at that time was $10.
