The city of Santa Maria issued the following news release:

The Santa Maria Fire Department wants to ensure a safe 4th of July holiday period for all citizens in our community. Please keep in mind that Safe and Sane fireworks can only be purchased at the 27 designated fireworks stands that are permitted within the City of Santa Maria. It must also be noted that the sales and use of safe and sane fireworks are only legal within the corporate City limits of Santa Maria.
