Abstract:

An integrated analysis of facies and palaeontological content of the middle to late Miocene (c. 12.4-9.1 Ma) Angostura Formation led to the identification of facies associations indicative of shoreface and inner-shelf settings. The Angostura Formation comprises eight high-frequency sequences that are stacked to form a tectonically driven lowstand sequence set. The most complete examples of sequences are bounded by transgressively modified unconformities and exhibit a threefol...

Denudation Surfaces, Development of Pannonian Formations and Facies Distribution Indicate Late Miocene to Quaternary Deformation of the Transdanubian
Geolines ; The Transdanubian Range (TR) suffered a moderate extension during the rifting of the Pannonian basin between ~18 and ~11 Ma. Post-rift phase was connected to the deposition of different "Pannonian" (e.g., Late Miocene) formations both on top of the TR and in fastly subsiding basins around it.
AFRICAN CROCODYLIANS IN THE LATE NEOGENE OF EUROPE: A REVISION OF CROCODYLUS BAMBOLII RISTORI, 1890
Journal of Paleontology ; ABSTRACT- Genus Crocodylus is considered to have originated in Africa during the Early Miocene but it is only in the Late Miocene that there are evidences of dispersal toward Europe, where tomistomines and the alligatoroid Diplocynodon were widespread since the Paleogene. Revision of the type
An exceptional coastal upwelling fish assemblage in the Caribbean neogene
Journal of Paleontology ; AN EXCEPTIONAL COASTAL UPWELLING FISH ASSEMBLAGE IN THE CARIBBEAN NEOGENE* ABSTRACT-We report the discovery of an extremely rich, previously undescribed Caribbean late Miocene to early Pliocene ichthyofauna represented by one hundred forty species of elasmobranchs and teleosteans from the Cubagua
Archalisinids and related porcelaneous larger foraminifera form the late Miocene of the Dominican Republic
Journal of Paleontology ; ABSTRACT-Exceptionally large quantities of outstandingly well-preserved, free specimens of larger foraminifera from late Miocene sediments of the Dominican Republic invite an analysis of their structure in detail. The structures of the porcelaneous larger foraminifera reveal that most of them are
Role of regional extension and uplift in the Plio-Pleistocene evolution of the Aksu Basin, SW Turkey
Journal of the Geological Society ; CLARE P. GLOVER1 & ALASTAIR H. F. ROBERTSON Abstract: The Aksu Basin, within the Isparta Angle area of SW Turkey, documents Plio-Pleistocene crustal processes at the interface between the Tauride Mountains and the Eastern Mediterranean Sea. Basin sedimentation began in the Late Miocene,
