SPEAKER QUINN ISSUES STATEMENT REGARDING SALE OF STUYVESANT TOWN, PETER COOPER VILLAGE

The New York City Council issued the following statement:
I commend the tenants of Stuyvesant Town and Peter Cooper Village, and Council Member Dan Garodnick, for working so hard to keep their homes, and to preserve their American dream. While I am disappointed that they did not prevail in their bid to purchase these properties from Met Life, I applaud tenants for changing the discussion around the sale of this property to one that forced all bidders to address the need for preserving affordability.
