EPA to Issue SCR Guidance, Meet With OEMs on 2010

The Environmental Protection Agency said it would soon issue its guidance for engine manufacturers on the conditions they must meet in order to sell engines that use selective catalytic reduction to meet emission regulations.

Karl Simon, director of EPAs compliance and innovative strategies division, told TRANSPORT TOPICS the agency was in talks with several engine manufacturers and the final guidance on SCR would be issued "shortly."

Some truck makers Volvo, Mack and Freightliner - announced they will use SCR to meet EPA's 2010 standards, (which call for drastic cuts in emissions. But others ...
