Gigantic intracranial hydatid cysts: An unusual case report
|
Abstract.
Hydatid disease or hydatidosis caused by Echinococcus granulosus is the most widespread, serious human cestode infection in the world. Brain involvement is reported in 1-2% of all Echinococcus granulosus infections. Fifty-75% cases of the intracranial hydatid cysts are seen in children. We report a case of this rare entity of the isolated intracranial extradural hydatid cysts in an 18 years old young boy, who presented with history of generalized seizures and raised intracranial pressure.
