Abstract

Dietary fish oil has immunomodulatory effects that are partly mediated by its effects on cytokine secretion. In this paper, we examine whether dietary fish oil has different effects on cytokine secretion by T cells and macrophages. Female BalbC mice were fed diets supplemented with 18% fish oil + 2% corn oil or 20% corn oil. Concanavalin A (ConA)- and LPS-induced TNF-α and IL-10 secretion by splenocytes was examined using ELISA. Dietary fish oil decreased ConA induced-, b...

Fish oil feeding delays influenza virus clearance and impairs production of (interferon-gamma) and virus-specific immunoglobulin A in the lungs of mice
The Journal of Nutrition ; Fish Oil Feeding Delays Influenza Virus Clearance and Impairs Production of Interferon-gamma and Virus-Specific Immunoglobulin A in the Lungs of Mice'2 ABSTRACT Ingestion of fish oil can suppress the inflammatory response to injury and may impair host resistance to infection. To investigate the
Fish Oil price remains firm on tight supply and strong demand. (Oils, Fats & Waxes).(Industry Overview)
Chemical Market Reporter ; THE FISH OIL market is facing strong demand and tight supply, and the upward pricing pressures witnessed over the past two years continue. Despite slightly higher overall catches in the major fish-producing countries in 2002 compared to 2001, supply remains tight. Fish oil demand in all major
Fish Oil Price Remains Flat Despite Lower Production Levels.(Brief Article)(Statistical Data Included)
Chemical Market Reporter ; FISH OIL PRICES remained flat throughout last year, and pricing is expected to continue to be level this year as soft oil prices still dominate the fats and oils market. Although production was much lower in 2000 than in 1999, Asian demand for fish oil has declined, and consumption for edible uses,
Sensory Assessment of Microencapsulated Fish Oil Powder
JAOCS, Journal of the American Oil Chemists' Society ; Abstract The aim of the study was to investigate the influence of microencapsulation by spray drying on fish oil sensory quality. Evaluated fish oil powders were coated with modified cellulose, skim milk powder and a mixture of fish gelatin and cornstarch. Samples were stored in the presence of air

Fish oil prices soar on tight supply. (Markets: Oils, Fats & Waxes).(Brief Article)(Statistical Data Included)
Chemical Market Reporter ; PRICES FOR fish oil worldwide are gaining in the wake of lower catches in the major producing countries, which have greatly reduced stocks for fish byproducts, fish meal and fish oil. Premium prices over soybean oil have risen in the past three months and have reached up to $600 per ton to $620 per
Fish oil consumption and reduction of arterial disease
The Journal of Nutrition ; Recent Advances in Nutritional Sciences Fish Oil Consumption and Reduction of Arterial Disease'2 ABSTRACT Fish oil consumption may help to normalize the prethrombotic state and reduce arterial disease. This antithrombotic potential of fish oil, rich in (n-3) polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA), has
Docosahexaenoic Acid-Enriched Fish Oil Consumption Modulates Immunoglobulin Responses to and Clearance of Enteric Reovirus Infection in Mice1,2
The Journal of Nutrition ; Abstract We hypothesized that consumption of the (n-3) PUFA, docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), modulates the mucosal immune response to enteric infection with respiratory enteric orphan virus (reovirus), a model intestinal pathogen. Mice were fed either AIN-93G control diet, containing 10 g/kg corn oil
