Romania, after many years of Communist rule, returned to democratic rule last November. As a result, His Majesty King Michael of Romania was allowed back to his native country for the first time since 1947. In this speech His Majesty explains Romania's position on NA TO membership, making the case that Romania is now ready to become a member of the North Atlantic Organisation; it is now a democratic country with a government firmly in control of the military forces and a people of whom 90 per cent favours NA TO membership.
