In the current study, the phase equilibria between fcc, graphite and M^sub 7^C^sub 3^ (M = Cr,Co) have been studied at 1373 °K, 1423 °K, and 1473 °K. The solubility of Co in the M^sub 7^C^sub 3^ phase and the solubility of Cr and C in the fcc phase have been determined by the high-temperature equilibration and quenching technique. Appropriate mixtures of Cr^sub 7^C^sub 3^ + Co or Cr^sub 7^C^sub 3^ + Co + C were equilibrated and subsequently quenched in liquid nitrogen. The quenched samples...

Mechanical Behaviors of Chromium- or Niobium-Modified Ni^sub 47.5^Al^sub 25^Fe^sub 27.5^ Alloy at Elevated Temperature
Metallurgical and Materials Transactions ; The microstructure of the Ni^sub 47.5^Al^sub 25^Fe^sub 27.5^ alloy was modified by adding Cr or Nb to improve its tensile properties. Increasing the Cr content increased the volume fraction of the interdendritic regions and, subsequently, increased the tensile elongation at room temperature.

The Possible Application of Nb-W-Cr Alloys in High-Temperature Air
JOM ; Alloys from the Nb-W-Cr system have been investigated for possible application at temperatures above 1,000C. In this study, Nb-20W-5Cr (compositions are in weight percent) and Nb-20W-10Cr alloys were exposed to air for both 24 hours and 168 hours in a temperature range of 700C to 1,400C in order to

The Solubility of Cr^sub 2^O^sub 3^ in Calcium Ferrite Slags at 1573 K
Metallurgical and Materials Transactions ; Continuous converting of copper matte based on calcium ferrite slag has many attractions for the copper smelting industry. However, a serious drawback is that this slag leads to shorter furnace campaigns because it is aggressive toward the magnesia-chromia refractories that form the furnace lining.
Microstructure and Properties of Ni^sub 3^Si Alloyed with Cr Fabricated by Self-Propagating High-Temperature Synthesis Casting Route
Metallurgical and Materials Transactions ; Ni^sub 3^Si alloys with 20, 30, and 40 wt pet Cr were fabricated by self-propagating high-temperature synthesis casting at 543 K. Thermite reaction (Cr^sub 2^O^sub 3^ + 5CrO^sub 3^ + 12Al = 7Cr + 6Al^sub 2^O^sub 3^) was used in Cr alloying. The method is simple and economical when used to prepare
