Oral cancer screening
Following are step-by-step instructions for identifying abnormal oral tissue using the ViziLite disposable light-based oral lesion examination system.
1. Perform a routine exam of the oral cavity, noting the presence of any lesions in the attached gingiva; the buccal mucosa; the floor of the mouth; the hard and soft palate; and the dorsal, lateral and ventral tongue (Fig. 1).
2. Instruct patient to rinse mouth with the supplied 1% acetic acid solution for up to 1 minute, and then to expectorate (Fig. 2).
