ONTOGENETIC GROWTH AND VARIATION IN THE SKELETAL STRUCTURE OF TWO LATE NEOGENE SPHAEROPYLE SPECIES (POLYCYSTINA RADIOLARIANS)

ABSTRACT-

Two four-shelled species characterized by a pylome-bearing outermost shell-Sphaeropyle robusta and its descendant, Sphaeropyle langii-are selected for morphological study. Both species are morphologically identical to three-shelled Actinomma morphotypes, morphotypes A and B, respectively. Furthermore, the number of pores on half a circumference of the primary cortical shell, the distinguishing feature between Sphaeropyle robusta and Sphaeropyle langii, accounts for the same b...

HAPLOTAENIATUMIDAE AND INANIGUTTIDAE (RADIOLARIA) FROM THE LOWER SILURIAN OF THE CAPE PHILLIPS FORMATION, CORNWALLIS ISLAND, NUNAVUT, CANADA
Journal of Paleontology ; ABSTRACT- Radiolaria of the families Haplotaeniatumidae Won, Blodgett, and Nestor, 2002 and Inaniguttidae Nazarov and Ormiston, 1984 were recovered from the Llandovery and lower Wenlock of the Cape Phillips Formation on Cornwallis Island, Nunavut, Canada. Three new species of haplotaeniatumids are
Late Cambrian Radiolaria from Hunan, China
Journal of Paleontology ; ABSTRACT-Well-preserved polycystine radiolarians, representing a new species in the family Entactindae, were recovered from subtidal micrites and bioclastic micrites of the Upper Cambrian (Glyptagnostus reticulatus trilobite zone) Bitiao Formation, western Hunan, China. Confirming earlier,
Structural and Material Changes in the Aging Thorax and Their Role in Crash Protection for Older Occupants
Stapp Car Crash Journal ; ABSTRACT -The human body undergoes a variety of changes as it ages through adulthood. These include both morphological (structural) changes (e.g., increased thoracic kyphosis) and material changes (e.g., osteoporosis). The purpose of this study is to evaluate structural changes that occur in the
Correlation between compression of the proximal tibia and gross external indicators of joint degeneration.
Proceedings of the Indiana Academy of Science ; ABSTRACT. Previous research conducted on the dynamics of trabecular bone suggests that changes in the dimensions of the proximal metaphysis of the tibia would be consistent with joint degeneration of a mechanical etiology. Data on the circumference of the proximal metaphysis were collected from 44
Llandovery Secuicollactinae and Rotasphaeridae (radiolaria) from the Cape Phillips Formation, Cornwallis Island, Arctic Canada
Journal of Paleontology ; ABSTRACT-Radiolaria extracted from two bedded-limestone and two limestone-concretion samples from the upper Llandovery of the Cape Phillips Formation, Cornwallis Island, allow the distinction between the spicular haplentactinid subfamily Secuicollactinae and the nonspicular Rotasphaeridae. This
MIDDLE TO UPPER TOURNASIAN RADIOLARIA OF THE BALTALIMANI FORMATION, ISTANBUL, TURKEY
Journal of Paleontology ; ABSTRACT- Radiolarians collected from five localities of the Baltalimani Formation in the Istanbul region are described in detail, and the local stratigraphic ranges and persistence of biostratigraphically important radiolarian species are documented. The spumellarian component is published for the
Myosin I contributes to the generation of resting cortical tension
Biophysical Journal ; ABSTRACT The amoeboid myosin I's are required for cellular cortical functions such as pseudopod formation and macropinocytosis, as demonstrated by the finding that Dictyostelium cells overexpressing or lacking one or more of these actin-based motors are defective in these processes. Defects in
Mechanical testing of impaction bone grafting in the tibia: INITIAL STABILITY AND DESIGN OF THE STEM
Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery ; Clinical experience of impaction bone grafting for revision knee arthroplasty is limited, with initial stability of the tibial tray emerging as a major concern. The length of the stem and its diameter have been altered to improve stability. Our aim was to investigate the effect of the type of stem,
Reconstruction of femoral defects in revision hip surgery: RISK OF FRACTURE AND STEM MIGRATION AFTER IMPACTION BONE GRAFTING
Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery ; The use of impaction bone grafting during revision arthroplasty of the hip in the presence of cortical defects has a high risk of post-operative fracture. Our laboratory study addressed the effect of extramedullary augmentation and length of femoral stem on the initial stability of the prosthesis
