Cosmetic practice must exist within framework of general dermatology

Products and procedures designed to advance the practice of cosmetic dermatology flooded our specialty during the past five years. These formulations and devices are designed to deal with issues of appearance not covered by traditional insurance policies because they are not a medical necessity. However, dermatology residents and young dermatologists are looking for training in these nontraditional areas of dermatology not offered in the standard residency training program.
