Nigeria to increase development of its barite, bentonite resources

The government of Nigeria is proposing a US$24-miIlion a year program aimed al developing its barite and bentonite resources and depending less on imported material. Eventually, the government wants to discontinue imports of any industrial mineral that can be produced domestically.
A committee has been appointed to study the country's barite and bentonite production. It is to provide solutions on how to increase local production of those minerals and reduce imports.
