NGO GETS P3-M AID FOR SIERRA MADRE
|
THE Australian government has awarded A$77,125 (roughly P3 million) to a Filipino environmental group working to preserve the Sierra Madre Mountain ranges in northeastern Luzon.
Tony Hely, Australian ambassador to the Philippines, announced on Tuesday that the financial aid was award-ed to Conservation International, which oversees the $10-million Regional Natural Heritage Program.
The program includes preserving Sierra Madre's biodiversity.
Hely said the Australian government wants to preserve Sierra Madre's lush tropical forests, rivers and its native animals.
