ENGLEWOOD, COLO. - Investigators at the University of California-Davis tested CpG for its efficacy and safety in treating feline asthma and determined that it is a safe option to pursue as treatment.

Lead Investigator Dr. Laurel Gershwin and associates researched several ways of administering the compound indicating the therapy can work. Additional study is needed to determine optimum dosage, timing of dosage and type of administration, according to study sponsor Morris Animal Foundation (MAF). Unlike current treatment, CpG may reverse and eliminate asthma in affected cats.
