This reviewer now scans the New York Times Book Review with a jaundiced eye after reading Aaron Jaffe's book Modernism and the Culture of Celebrity. I notice how Churchill wrote his War Chronicles with a "syndicate," Maureen Dowd "name drops," and Joyce Carol Oates is everywhere commenting on her own prolific career.
