With the publication of 2 Samuel (FOTL 8), Antony F. Campbell completes a commentary on Samuel he started nearly 30 years ago (p. xi). Campbell published the first installment, 1 Samuel (FOTL 7), in 2003. The two volumes are intended to be read as one with the plan and purpose of 2 Samuel following that of 1 Samuel. Both follow the form-critical approach of the FOTL series.
