Introduction

The Asian financial crisis in 1997 and 1998 engendered a long spell of economic depression in the region. However, the depression was not uniform across the Asian tigers, namely, Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and South Korea. Similar divergence could also be found in the housing markets, which are important constituents in these economies. This paper examines these variations.
