BONTOC CELEBRATES LANG-AY FESTIVAL

BONTOC, Mountain Province: A folk festival here has become a tool for progress for the residents of the 10 towns composing the province.
Tribesmen from the mountain villages initiated the Lang-ay festival in 2005 to mark the province's foundation day.
Lang-ay in the Igorot dialect means fellowship. The folk ritual involves offering wine and animals such as pigs and chickens to the pagan gods.
Town officials have used the occasion to interact and share ideas in improving the lives and conditions of their constituents, while preserving their customs and traditions.
