One reader believes certain people in jeopardy.

In April 2005 inform published a letter from me which questioned the safety of thermally induced isomers of α-linolenic acid (ALA) in the human diet. (1.) Although my letter did not prompt any comment in the letters column, I did receive a few e-mails of support and some additional related information.

I also registered my concerns with the United Kingdom's Food Standards Agency (FSA), but their response was that trans isomers of ALA can be considered as equivalent to trans monoenoic acids, and, because of the low levels in refined oils and ...
