K.J. Alphonse quits IAS; may fight polls

Thiruvananthapuram, March 9 -- K.J. Alphonse, the former senior Delhi Development Authority (DDA) official who made a name as a crusader against corruption, Thursday resigned from government service setting off speculation he might contest in the forthcoming Kerala assembly polls.

Alphonse, who as commissioner, land management, with DDA, had ordered demolition of a large number of illegal constructions, resigned as Kerala Land Revenue Commissioner. He had earned the nickname 'demolition man of DDA' for his no-nonsense approach.
