Food inflation hitting U.S. in gut: If increases stay same, food prices will take the biggest leap since 1990

Food prices are rising faster than overall inflation, forcing
grocery shoppers to sacrifice variety for savings.
"It's a lot more hamburger. You don't get pork chops as much, or
even chicken I don't get as much. You have to think, 'What can I
afford this week?' " said Leo Baker, 55, of Denver.
Baker, who is disabled and lives on a fixed income, visits a
Denver food bank to stock up on free food.
